| Ann C. Taylor:
About the Artist
Ann Taylor is an award-winning Verona watercolorist who
finds challenge in interpreting a wide variety of subjects, frequently
utilizing water as a compositional element. Her love of color and light
is evident in most of her paintings.
Mrs. Taylor began studying watercolors when she was fifteen. A graduate
of the High School of Industrial Arts in Manhattan, she has a B.A. in
Fine and Applied Arts from Brooklyn College. Further studies include
courses at The School of Visual Arts, the New School for Social
Research and the Yard School of Art, Montclair, NJ.
She is an exhibiting member of the New Jersey Watercolor Society, The
Garden State Watercolor Society and the Essex Watercolor Club. Ann is
also a signature member of the Pastel Society of New Jersey and a
member of the Allied Artists of America, the Clifton Assn. of Artists,
the Art Centre of New Jersey, the West Essex Art Assn. and the
Millburn/Short Hills Art Center. Ann has recently completed a
three-year period as President of the Essex Watercolor Club. She is currently First Vice-president of the New Jersey Watercolor Society
In the past 15 years, Mrs. Taylor has won more than 50 awards. Among
the more recent are: Best in Show, Milburn-Short Hills Art Center’s
Juried Art Exhibition, Fall 2006; Lennie Steinhart Award for Best
Watercolor, West Essex Art Assn., January 2007 Open Juried Exhibit; The
Garden State Watercolor Society Award, GSWCS Fall 2006 Open Juried
Show; the New Jersey Herald Award, Skylands Open Juried Art Show,
Summer 2006; Best in Show at the West Essex Art Assn. Fall 2004
Exhibition; Awards of Excellence at the Essex Watercolor Club December
2005 and Fall 2004 Members’ Shows; Best Watermedia, Community Arts
Assn., National Open-juried Show, March 2002; Best in Show, West Essex
Art Assn, Open-juried Show, January 2000; plus a host of awards of
merit and excellence.
Mrs. Taylor has had seven solo shows and has been included in select
juried exhibitions at the Trenton and Monmouth Museums. Her paintings
are included in many private American and international collections.
She is currently represented by Essex Fine Art Gallery in Montclair.
Presently, Mrs. Taylor is on the staff of the Livingston Arts
Association where she teaches watercolors. Ann also runs watercolor workshops for Elderhostel.

About the Artist
After a career in advertising, Allen
Taylor returned to his early love of drawing and painting as one of his
retirement pursuits. He has focused on watercolors and has studied with
Ed Havas, Ann Taylor, Joel Popadics, Mark de Mos, Carl Berger and
others. Taylor’s paintings have been shown widely in Northern
New Jersey. He is an exhibiting member of the New Jerdey Watercolor Society and the Essex Water Color Club,
serving on the board as newsletter editor. Other memberships include
the West Essex Art Association, the Milburn-Short Hills Arts Center,
Art Centre of NJ, and Livingston Arts Association. As subjects for his paintings,
Allen frequently draws from his surroundings and travels. His most
recent works include paintings of Italy, the Canadian Maritimes, Cape
Cod and Rockport, MA as well as his hometown, Verona New Jersey. Among
